In honor of the opening of our new traveling exhibit WWII Beyond the Trenches: Stories from the Front courtesy of The Wisconsin Veterans Museum, our executive director Patricia Lutz will be presenting on the history of the Doughboy Statue.  After They Closed the Gates: Jewish Illegal Immigration to the United Stat
Monday, May 7, 2018. 7pm-8:30pm. In After They Closed the Gates, Garland tells the untold stories of the Jewish migrants and smugglers involved in that underworld, showing how such stories contributed to growing national anxieties about illegal immigration. Garland also helps us understand how Jews were linked to, and then unlinked from, the specter of illegal immigration. By tracing this complex history, Garland offers compelling insights into the contingent nature of citizenship, belonging, and Americanness. Museum Members $6 Non-Members $10.  Migration
Saturday, May 12, 2018. 7 pm. Music and prose will highlight the trials and rewards of leaving one's homeland with hope for better tomorrows. The sixty voice chorus, an Irish band, a chamber ensemble, soloists, and narrators will perform a variety of beautiful music. A pre-concert Underground Railroad tour will begin at 6 p.m. (space limited). A post-concert panel talk-back will immediately follow the performance. Then, a reception will provide an opportunity for enjoying friendly discussion and light refreshments. Adults $15/$17, Seniors $12/$14, Students $5.  Introduction to Archaeology

Students entering grades 5-9 Explore MVAC's Archaeology Lab and work with artifacts recovered from area excavations as an introduction to the science of archaeology. Discover how the first Native Americans in Wisconsin survived using the area's natural resources.  Dagwaagin Fall Encampment
Saturday, October 6, 2018. 10 am to 4 pm. This Fall Gathering features several re-enactors demonstrating flint knapping, firestarting, rope making, duck decoys constructed from cattails, and more - think of it as a mini-Rendezvous along with shorter tours of the historic site and Ojibwe Village. The clay ovens will be fired and several primitive camps will be set up. Tomahawk throwing and archery are included in this event. $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors 65+, Retired/Active Military and College Students; $6 children 6-17.  Summer Concert at Jacobs House
Sunday, August 7, 4011. 1 pm. As part of the summer concert series at homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, there will be a concert at the Jacobs House featuring Dawn Lawler on flute and Mary Ann Harr playing the harp. Guests will receive a tour from Susan Jacobs Lockhart, who lived in the home as a young girl. All proceeds from this event will go toward the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.  WWI Beyond the Trenches: Stories from the Front Traveling Exhibit
Wednesday, May 2, 2018 through Saturday, June 2, 2018. Over 122,000 Wisconsin men and women served on land, sea and in the air during WWI. WWI Beyond the Trenches, a traveling exhibit from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, features an up close and personal look at the Great War through the eyes of Wisconsin veterans using photographs and first person accounts.  Yellow River Echoes: A Living History Fur Trade Experience
Saturday, June 23, 2018 through Sunday, June 24, 2018. 10 am to 4 pm. Re-enacting the life of fur traders and their Ojibwe neighbors active here from 1802-1805. Experience a working fur post and observe the camp life of the re-enactors as they go about their daily lives in 1802. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 through Thursday, July 19, 2018. 9 am-3 pm. Students entering grades 5-9 Take your excitement for archaeology into the field! Students who have taken MVAC's Introduction to Archaeology class in the past can join a La Crosse area project. Participants will work alongside professional archaeologists in the field. Tasty food prepared in the fur-trade era manner is a treat. Goods offered by the traders include period clothing, furnishings, camp gear, trade silver, animal skins, jewelry and a fascinating variety of other utilitarian and decorative items. Wednesday, June 10, 2020 through Thursday, October 15, 2020. 10 am - 3 pm. Alexander Noble House Museum presents "A Glimpse of Old Fish Creek", with an added feature Victorian Christmas in the Parlor. Enjoy a tour of a Greek Revival Farmhouse built in 1875 and experience a portrayal of domestic life in Door County at the turn of the century. $5.00 Admission.
